HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
From the ladies at Ferme Park Road

This comes a bit belated, but better late than never, right? I mean, these kinds of things really bring joy all year round.

Food Discovery: Purple Craze

So as it turns out, moving to London has expanded my culinary palette. I know, I know. You’re thinking to yourself the Brits aren’t exactly famous for their cuisine. But some new things I’ve tasted have been pretty amazing (ie: Beef Wellington – yes please!). And some not so much (ie: Chicken Liver Pâté – no thank you!).

Since eating out is a such big part of socializing here and because living in a different culture naturally exposes you to new things and because I like food, I’ve decided to start sharing some of these food discoveries. I don’t intend on presenting these things like a food critic; I’m too easily pleased by what I’m sure many critics would consider mediocre food. I merely intend to share food stuffs that I find amusing or interesting or just because I feel like it.

Word to the wise, it turns EVERYTHING purple. By the by, purple tinted chicken is not that appetizing.

This week’s discovery….I found out I like beetroot. Who knew I’d dig beetroot? (haha, funny play on words and I didn’t even mean to). I watched my mom eating it all those years and basically always thought, “Yuck!” But then I tried some the other day and now I think, “Yum.” Especially if it has been pickled in mild malt vinegar. Double yum. It reminds me of rot kohl, which is one of my favorite German dishes. And it’s a great addition to salads. So thank you to my dear friend Lou for reintroducing me. I guess its good to introduce another superfood into the ol’ diet.
